Celebrating 40 Years and 200 Homes

In 2025, Habitat for Humanity of McLean County is celebrating a remarkable double milestone—its 40th anniversary and the construction of its 200th home! The celebration kicked off with a wall build and groundbreaking ceremony on Saturday, April 26, marking both the affiliate’s long-standing impact in the community and its continued commitment to providing safe, affordable housing. This special home is being built in honor of Judy Stone, the visionary founder of the affiliate, whose legacy lives on through the lives transformed by Habitat’s mission.

The 200th home is made possible by generous support from the Bloomington-Normal Rotary clubs and First Presbyterian Church of Normal, who are serving as the house’s major sponsors. This collaborative effort reflects the power of community partnerships and shared values. Habitat is thrilled to partner with Sharee and her family—longtime residents of McLean County. Sharee, who works at Kingsley Junior High School, is joined by her children Jashara, Jashawn, and JaKaleib, each actively contributing to the community in their own ways. Their excitement and gratitude shine as they prepare to move into a home where they can grow, thrive, and create lasting memories.

“Building with Habitat means so much for me and my family,” Sharee shared. “This allows us to have a safe place of living along with being able to have a long-time home to grow in.” For Sharee and her children, the Habitat home represents more than just a house—it’s a symbol of stability, security, and hope. Thanks to the dedication of volunteers, donors, and community partners, the Stone family’s journey toward homeownership is well underway, marking a new chapter not only in their lives, but also in the ongoing story of Habitat for Humanity of McLean County.
